Lalong to Setup Committee to Investigate Chlorine Explosion at Jos Water Board

Following the Chlorine explosion at a water treatment plant in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, which killed 8 persons and left over 100 persons hospitalized, Governor Simon Lalong, has confirmed that the State Government will set up an independent committee to investigate the cause of the explosion.

Lalong disclosed this Monday, when he visited the scene of the incident.

He said the state committee will be separate from that which President Muhammadu Buhari and the federal government has setup.

The Governor said it was unfortunate that the incident had happened, just few weeks after the twin bomb blasts that had killed many People in the state.

Lalong sympathised with the families of those who lost their lives, assuring the populace that all those currently receiving treatment in any hospitals, will have the bills settled by the state government.

He frowned at the situation where people are said to be building on the water pipes, saying; “It was wrong for people to build on pipes around the area, “this will be one of the terms of reference of the committee.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Hannatu Dantong, commiserated with the victims of the explosion, assuring residents of the area that the water currently being circulated was still safe for consumption.
