Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State on Monday, signed the 2015 appropriation bill of N215 billion into law. The governor said N119.820 billion is for capital expenditure while N95.637 billion is for recurrent expenditure.
He also swore in the new Head of Civil Service, Huldah Fwangchi, and tasked her to check ‘unhealthy politicization’ of career civil service positions.
Lalong, while swearing in Fwangchi, said her appointment was based on her qualification as the most senior permanent secretary in the civil service, urging her to address, “the distribution of government appointments, postings and placements”.
Lalong said as a career civil servant and lawyer who understands the place of rule of law in good governance, Fwangchi is expected to work hard to reinvigorate the civil service.
“We inherited a system where private firms were engaged in the running of government bureaucracy and other statutory functions of agencies; this you would, as a matter of urgency set up machinery to address,” he said.
