Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has promised to key into the Federal Government’s efforts aimed at restoring peace not only to the state, but in other parts of the country with challenges.

Lalong made the pledge late Saturday night at a “Camp Fire” ceremony to conclude the training of more than 200 military cadets at the newly inaugurated NDA base camp in Jos.

Represented by the state’s Commissioner for Special Duty, Mr Hitler Dagi, the governor noted that the military had stood and continued to stand for the peace and unity of the nation.

He commended the Chief of Army of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, for his exemplary leadership, adding that this had resulted in the degrading of the terrorists in the North East region.

The governor urged the cadets to emulate the army chief.

In a remark, Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Ibrahim, the Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), said the base was returned to Jos for historical, operational and tactical reasons.

The Jos terrain and geography are tools for moulding young cadets to appreciate the various types of ground and the challenges they pose to military operations.

Particularly, the weather of Jos can teach us one or two lessons in adapting to all weather in operations.

For historical reason, this is where most of the generals were moulded,” he said, and urged the cadets to emulate the example and bravery of the chief of army staff.

For every act of cowardice from any officer is an eternal disgrace, therefore, seek for honour; no death, no glory,” he said.
