There are strong indications that Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State might reshuffle his cabinet following myriad of complain trailing the performance of some of his commissioners and political appointees in the past two years.
A competent source close to the government revealed that the reason for the imminent reshuffle is as a result of the inabilities of some of the political appointees to perform their executive functions effectively adding that the exercise might take place any moment from now.
It was gathered that some of the prominent stakeholders of All Progressive Congress in the state have also been mounting pressure on the governor to change some of his commissioners especially those considered as rookies in the act of governance and therefore not adding value to the administration.
A stalwart of the APC in the state who craved anonymity said he would not be surprised if the governor reshuffles his cabinet to inject more vigour into the administration adding that the performance of some of the commissioners and political appointees is far below average.
“Two years is enough for him to assess his political appointees and to gauge their performance and competency.
Another source close to the government further revealed that some of the politicians considered as godfathers who influenced appointments of some of the commissioners are kicking against the governor’s plan to flush out some the incompetent Commissioners.
When confronted, the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr Daniel Manjang simply declared thus: “To me it is a mere speculation but however, it is a routine that happens in government, anything that has a beginning must have an end. In most cases, it is done to reinvigorate governance. Even if the speculation is wrong, it amounts to the shifting evil day, what is going to be will be.”
