Lalong makes case for Plateau indigenes

As Plateau State gears up for it’s 40th anniversary celebration next week, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state Barrister Jonathan Mawiyau, has said that Governor Simon Lalong is willing to open up business opportunities to investors, who are willing to come to the state in good faith to make a living.

However, Mawiyau noted that, though the state is willing to create opportunities for investors from outside, the Governor is of the opinion that such investors must be ready to engage in developing and expanding the abundant human resources in the state.

He affirmed that Plateau, being a Christian state, gave opportunities of peaceful relationship and coexistence to other people of other religions to practise their faith freely, but the same situation tends to work against the Plateau People, hence, the decision to protect their own, since the other people have refused to accept the dignity of the people, religion and culture.

The Attorney General noted that, “The government of Lalong has liberalised the state with opportunities for investors to come in to invest and do business. But as investors expand in their investment, the labour force of the state must be engaged in parts of the businesses. The idea of bringing labourers from other places, other than engaging qualified indigenes, will not be accepted by his government,” he said.
