Governor Simon Lalong has named the main access road into Jos Plateau state, the “Muhammadu Buhari way” as a mark of honour to President Buhari for his “unflinching support”.
This development was made known by Governor Lalong in his address at the Little Ray-field Government House after the commissioning of capital projects within Jos Metropolis.
In his speech, he said “as an honour to Mr. President, on behalf of the good people of Plateau State, I have approved the naming of Mararaban Jama’a to Ta’en Junction, Bukuru as “MUHAMMADU BUHARI WAY”.
The resurfacing of the very strategic road, which is the main artery into Central and Southern Plateau, Abuja, Kaduna and Southern Nigeria was commenced by the previous administration of Governor Jonah Jang and now completed by the Lalong administration.
The road which was developed at the cost of N10.8 billion is one of the busiest on the Plateau, and will boost both “intra” and “inter-state” trade and development.
When ViewPointNigeria spoke to numerous commentators to get their opinion about the honour, several expressed disappointment. Saying it is an honour not deserved, given the disinterest and disdain that President Buhari showed to victims of the herdsmen attacks on the Plateau. Many also cited the snobbery of Plateau citizens in major Federal appointments as reason why such an honour is undeserved.
