Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong has highlighted key areas that his administration is focusing on as he seeks partnership with China. Lalong gave the indication at the China/Nigeria production capacity and investment round table at Guangzhou China. The event was a high level meeting between Nigerian Government officials, business communities, financial institutions and China’s Government officials as well as financial institutions which are part of the follow up of Pres. Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to China last week. The Nigerian delegation includes Governor Simon Lalong, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, the Consular General at the Nigeria Consul in Guangzhou, Mallam Hussein Mohammed and representatives of first bank, Sterling bank and bank of Industries & Agriculture at the round table. Moderated by the Deputy Consul General, Mallam Adamu Shuaibu the Deputy Secretary of Guangzhou said the history of trade and investments between Guangzhou and Nigeria goes back a long way and expressed hope that the round table discussion will lead to increased trade and investments between the North central States of Nigeria and Guangzhou. Nigeria consul general in Guangzhou assured both Nigeria and China’s business concerns that the consulate will provide all the necessary support to facilitate linkages that will lead to enhancement of trade and investments.
Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong remarks focused on the State comparative advantages in agricultural and agro processing, solid mineral development, tourism, renewable energy, ICT and infrastructure. Lalong assured them that his administration is determined to create a business friendly environment which is favorable to all inventors.
At the end of the round table, several companied like China Africa Development Fund, the Choice International Group expresses desire to explore the opportunity presented by Plateau State and promised to send a team to Nigeria for additional discussions. Governor Lalong was accompanied by the Commissioner for agriculture, commerce, environment and solid minerals as well as the chairman of PIPC and President of PLACEMA .
