News reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that the governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong has approved the appointment of Martins Shaldas as the new Long Goemai of Shendam Local Government Area.

Martins Shaldas, who was a director with the Plateau State civil service commission is to succeed his brother, Hubert Shaldas, who died a year ago.

In a statement made by the Secretary to the State Government, Rufus Bature, he said the appointment was made after Shaldas’ emerged as the choice of the area’s traditional kingmakers, in an election which held on Monday.

The statement shared with ViewPointNigeria quoted Lalong congratulating the new monarch, while urging him to see the appointment as an opportunity to serve.
