Political happenings and permutations on the Plateau strongly suggests that Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State will run for the Senate in the forthcoming elections.

Analysts working with ViewPointNigeria believe this to be true, because the body language of the Governor and that of the incumbent senator (G N S Pwajok Suggests) that the senator may give way for the Governor to ascend to the position.

In discussions yesterday, a source revealed that Senator Gyang might have foreclosed his return to the Senate as a result of the moves by the governor to run for the seat, adding that Gyang has also commenced consultation to contest the gubernatorial primary on the platform of the PDP.

It is unclear whether the moves by Jang would translate to a direct swap, where Senator G N S Pwajok would assent to the Governorship seat, but many analyst believe he is one of several options being considered by the Government. It would be recalled, that over the past few months, Jang has kept his cards very close to his chest -not revealing whom he would support and that support and pressure has been mounting that he considers his deputy Governor -Ignatius Longjan for the position.

It is reliably gathered that the governor had a tete-a-tete with the 17 Chairmen of Local Government Councils on Monday and subtly hinted that he would contest the senate seat for Plateau North.

Our source in Jos, confirmed that the governor appealed to the council chairmen to work towards ensuring continuity of redemption agenda.
In a related development, former governor of Plateau State, Amb. Fidelis Tapgun, on Wednesday, picked the nomination form to contest the 2015 governorship election, thus becoming the first aspirant to pick a nomination form from the southern senatorial zone.

The form was purchased at the Abuja office of the PDP by the Director General of Tapgun Campaign Organisation, Ambassador Ibrahim Kasai. Speaking with newmen after the purchase, Kasai espressed optimism that Tapgun would win the primaries and ultimately be elected Governor in 2015.
