News reaching ViewPointNigeria confirmed that Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State, has on Thursday 12th June 2014, called on the Federal Government to relocate the Jos Railway Terminus where trains stop, to Kuru in Jos South LGA, because of the congestion in the city centre.

The Governor made the call when he addressed residents of Kuru, while inspecting new projects in the Plateau North Senatorial District. He said the state government would liaising with the Minister of Transport to ensure the relocation of the Terminus to a relatively uncongested area.

Speaking, he said “I will discuss with the minister of transport so that the terminus will be relocated from where it is to Kuru because the Jos metropolis is already congested”.

Jang, who also inspected the remodelling of Yakubu Gowon Cargo Airport, Heipang, said government would partner with Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to extend the runway.

“The runway is too short and since we are talking of an export zone, bigger aircraft would be coming to the airport and there is need for an extension,” he said.

The governor, who expressed satisfaction with the remodelling of the airport, however, decried the slow pace of work on the project.

“The design is a highly improved model but the slow pace is giving me great concern. I understand that the contractor has not been financed properly.

“I am going to meet with the Managing Director of FAAN to ensure that they released the fund to complete this project, it is hanging on for too long,” he said.

He, however, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the protocol lounge at the airport being financed by the state government.

The governor urged contractors handling projects in the state to ensure their completion before the expiration of his tenure.

Jang said the inspection was to encourage the contractors to speed up work and meet his administration’s target.

According to him, the inspection would be repeated after three months to ensure that projects were completed.

The governor also inspected the renovation and construction of road network in Government Science School, Kuru and expressed satisfaction with the pace of work.
