Ambassador G Y Gotom who was the chairman at the occasion organized by the National Association of Fier Students (NAFES) in Fier Pankshin local government in his speech said “it is a crime for anyone to vote APC in Plateau state”.
Ambassador GY Gotom stated that education in Plateau state in the past using to be good that Plateau Students represented Nigeria at international competition and Programmes but after APC came in power, nothing was done in the education sector and since education is the bedrock of societal development and the Plateau state government under the APC administration has willingly refused to invest in education therefore it is a to vote for APC in Plateau state.
GY Gotom Appreciated the initiator of the programme and donated 2000 exercise books to the Fier Students Association with the sum of 100,000 naira.
The keynote speaker Amb Maryann Sani Mutle (j.p) thank God for the opportunity to speak to great future leaders and encouraged parents to invest in educating their children as they would take over from where they will stop.
Amb. Maryann said some parents only have time for their businesses and don’t care about the education of their children and allow teachers to suffer with the students.
Ambassador Maryann promised to sponsor a student from Fier community that received the award of best student in physics in plateau state to study outside the country.
Similarly the second Speaker who is a professional teacher Comrade Dater, Pekop Dawu, who speaks on the topic:”The Importance of Education to Community Development: An Imperative for Community Service Development and National Consciousness”
In his Presentation, Dater said “According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), education is the single most important factor in breaking the poverty cycle”.
“My dear Compatriots, may I put it to you that your life amounts to nothing if you cannot create any impact on your community.
Let me end this presentation with the words of John Dewey who said “education is not the preparation for life, it is life itself”. Education is a continues process that starts from cradle to grave (from birth to death). The day you stop learning, that day you stop living. Always remember the words of Aristotle — “the roots of education is bitter but the fruit is sweet”. The power to chose between life and death is in your hand. The ball is now in your court”.
The President Fier Students Association Comrade Dennis Dauda earlier welcome the guest speakers Comrade Dater Pekop Dawu and Amb maryann sani mutle (j.p) for accepting his invitation despite their tight schedule to speak the students of Fier on the importance of education to society. Dennis also appreciated the chairman for his support and passion for education and promises that Fier Students will forever be grateful.
After the goodwill messages from dignitaries was the presentation of certificates and cash support to students and school that participated in the quiz competition.
