A human right activist in Jos has called on the Government of Plateau state to pay teachers in the state service their salaries and entitlements. Mr Nankim Bagudu who is the Director of League for Human Rights stated so in Jos.

The one time commissioner under the Administration of Jonah Jang stated that it was inhumane for the state Government to refuse paying teachers their salaries since April. He said that it was wrong to tell teachers to wait for their certificates to be verified and returned from their former schools before they get paid.

Bagudu said that it was a serious problem as teachers are suffering with some dying. The lawyer said that it is a gross abuse of the fundamental rights to food to deny teachers of their entitlements. He added that it was wrong to make teachers pass through such inhumane treatment while a few are feeding fat on the state resources.
