A call has been made to Nigerian policemen attached to politicians to stop acting as their domestic staff. The call was mas made the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase in Jos the Plateau state capital.

Arase warned the policemen against doing domestic work such carrying bags or going on errands for politicians while saying that the uniform of Nigerian police must be respected. He said that the politicians should employ domestic staff to do such duties and added that any policeman who bridges the rule will be punished.

The IGP said he remains committed to the welfare of policemen ranging from the Rank and File to Inspectors. He added that measures have been put in place for a robust welfare package and retirement benefit to discourage corruption.

He called on the policemen to be proactive and fight crime in the state while urging them that the president is working towards improving their plight.
