The Plateau State chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Hon. Letep Dabang has confirmed to newsmen that the current Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Ignatius Longjan who contested the Plateau People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial primaries of the 8th of December with other aspirants (Victor Lar, GNS Pwajok, Engr. Jimmy Cheto etc) has concluded plans to decamp to the APC.
Hon. Letep disclosed this on Thursday during an interaction with journalists, shortly after the inauguration of the party’s gubernatorial campaign team at its campaign secretariat in Jos.
Speaking, he confirmed that Ignatius Longjan’s campaign team had already been subsumed into the APC party. He noted that a principal memberof the Longjan Campaign, Mr. John Dafang has already been made an official in the APC campaign team.
If Ignatius Longjan decamps, he would be the third Governorship aspirant from the PDP to do so, portending a dangerous trend to the PDP, ahead of the highly anticipated 2015 elections where the opposition ranks appear to be swelling considerably.
ViewPointNigeria’s investigations, found that one of the former gubernatorial aspirants, Mr. Chris Bature was already made the Director General of the APC campaign in the state. And he has constantly promised that he would deliver Plateau state to the APC.
It is no longer news, that another former gubernatorial aspirant and PDP decampee Prof. Sunny Tyoden was made running mate to the APC gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Simon Lalong.
Speaking further, Hon. Letep Dabang said that the APC had uncovered plans by some people allegedly working for the PDP, to rig the February election in the state.
The APC chairman said the suspected PDP members were collecting people’s permanent voter cards (PVC) data allegedly to distort the cards and make them difficult for INEC card readers to read.
He said the proposed scam was noted in Mikang, Mangu and Barkin ladi Local Government Areas and that party had reported the matter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the Resident Electoral Commissioner.
In closing, he appeal on INEC to properly investigate the allegations, insisting that it was no longer a rumour as several cases involving prominent personalities have been reported.
