In what seems to be a last minute truce, Hon Idris Maje, the Hon member representing Wase in the house of representatives and aspirant for the speakership position in the 9th Assembly –has dropped his ambition to be speaker and aligned with Tinubu’s anointed candidate, Hon Gbajabiamilla of Lagos state.

Speaking to our correspondent in Abuja, an APC stalwart confirmed that “the campaign organisations of the House of Representatives Leader Femi Gbajabiamila and Mohammed Idris Wase collapsed into one last night”.

Gbajabiamila (Surulere Federal Constituency, Lagos) and Wase (Wase Federal Constituency, Plateau), were, until the duo joined forces, jostling for the House of Representatives Speaker’s seat.

Both camps agreed to work together with Gbajabiamila as Speaker and Wase as Deputy Speaker in the Ninth Assembly.

The groups met at Trascorp Hotel, Abuja.

This will make Hon Maje one of the principal officers of the National Assembly and potentially position Plateau for lofty appointments in the next dispensation.
