The widely circulated report ignites discussions regarding the authority of the Local government chairman to infringe upon the rights of the people, considering that the chiefdom has already been officially recognized by the Plateau State Government. However, the social media handles of the chairman of Barkin-Ladi, Hon. After a series of back-and-forth exchanges, ViewpointNieria’s desperate attempts to contact the Chairman of Barkin-Ladi through text messages and phone calls proved unsuccessful. Our platform also sought to confirm details with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Ephriam Usman, but he was unavailable to answer his calls, leading to this follow-up report containing facts and evidence related to our initial findings. we provide evidence in pictures and other formats to stand by our report.

on July 13, 2020, following the coronation of the Gwom Ibaas of the Ibaas chiefdom, the local government authority, then led by Hon Jock Alamba, failed to commence the issuance of certificates of recognition to the Ibaas community. Consequently, the community submitted a letter through the paramount king, as complain to the government of plateau state which is attached below the report.

acting promptly, the state government, via the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, addressed the complaint by urging the Barkin-Ladi authorities to take appropriate action and implement the necessary measures. Consequently, since 27/07/2020, the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Authorities have continued to issue indigene forms, officially acknowledging the Ibaas chiefdom and the associated ethnic group without any disputes. see the copy of the letter obtain below:

upon examination of the certificate presented below, one will discern that the document has been authenticated by the Local Government authorities due to the individual being compelled to alter his tribal affiliation, and an alternate traditional ruler has also provided a signature in the space designated for the Awom Ibaas Foron.
