Jos based Youth Activist and Aspirant in the anticipated by-election for the Jos-North/Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau Comrade Abdul-Majid Waziri has promised to make the constituency a ”safe haven for all people.

Waziri, 36, also a graduate Engineer from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria is aspiring under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the pledge while declaring his intention to run for the office on Sunday in Jos.

Our Correspondent gather that the a by-election is being anticipated in the constituency, following the recent demise of its Representative, Hon Haruna Maitala.

Maitala who died in an autocrash, was elected into the green champer under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Waziri, who contested same position in the 2019 general election and came third, said he would give peace building deep attention following the volatile nature of the constituency.

He explained that to ensure lasting peace and tranquility is achieved in the constituency, he promised to empower the youth and women with various skills.

“Top on our manifesto is the sustenance of peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities within the constituency and beyond.

“This is important because no development can take place in a rancorous society.

“If voted, we shall trigger inter-communal round table discussions to strengthen relationships for effective and sustainable development.

“We shall engage our youth and fully utilise the potentials in governance, job and wealth creation, employment opportunities, educational supports, and de-radicalisation of those who have been neglected and exposed to all sorts of social vices.

“We shall collaborate with various stakeholders to generate effective results in addressing the challenges of youth in the constituency,”he said.

The aspirants promised to keep close tap with his constituents through regular town hall meetings, circle discussions and consultations with critical stakeholders on issues affecting the constituency.

“As a servant to my respected constituents, I shall from time to time engage the constituents in town hall meetings, circle discussions, and consultations on issues affecting the constituents.

“This will enable me know the plights of my constituents and to fine-tune ways in which the National Assembly and the Federal Government can come to their aid whenever the need arises.

” It will equally allow me to always report to my constituents and keep them abreast of the trends at the assembly. I shall always avail myself on the floor of the chamber to defend the interests of my constituents via petitions, motions, bills, and all other means that are within my powers and disposal,”he added.

Waziri also promised to give issue of education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, socio-economic development and other key areas the desired attention.
