“I topped the interview but wasn’t selected”- PICTDA DG

Plateau state information communication Technology development agency (PICTDA) Director General Mr. David Daser shared his experience on the level of corruption in the world.

The DG made this on his Facebook page. ” In 2008, I was invited for a job interview in an oil company, One of the biggest Oil company in the world. It was just a single slot. I made it nationally amongst 7 others into the final day.

“The very first time I wore suit. It was my first job interview and to be honest I down played it because I was recommended for a job with Google by one of its top engineers. I had made the first level interview with Google and awaiting the next phase.”

“The interviewers after interviewing me and seeing my CV told me I was over qualified for the job as the job was going to be a monotonous data migration tasks from one legacy backend DBMS to Oracle. In the words of one of them “You are impressive and so far the best, but we do not think we can constraint you into a routine job. We think you will be far better out there”.

I topped the interview but wasn’t selected. The guy who came second was employed. We are friends till date.

My mum almost cursed me for playing down an important job. She wanted to tell people her son works in an oil company. My mum hated me for years on this decision until things turn out good for me. Then I earn her love and trust back.

I couldn’t make it into Google, but I am good. #thinkbigdreambig #developYourSkills #DevelopYou
