The honourable liaison officer to the executive governor of Plateau state in Pankshin south constituency, Hon. Salome Tanimu Wanglek has sponsored fifty (50) pupils from the constituency to participate in the annual mathematics olympiad competition for this year.

This gesture came as a response to the honourable liaison officer’s desire to support the growth of education and other developmental strides in her constituency at all times. In the light of this desire, she was delighted when the coordinator, mathematics education in Pankshin local area, Mr. Augustine Dazuk government called her attention to the competition and she swiftly undertook to sponsor all the candidates that would be drawn from Pankshin south constituency to participate in it.

A circular from the Plateau state Universal Basic Education Board indicates that the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Plateau state chapter has scheduled to hold this year’s Mathematics Olympiad for primary and secondary categories on 8th June, 2024 concurrently across the northern, central and southern zones of the state. This, according to the circular is preparatory to the National Olympiad coming up soon.

Meanwhile, Pankshin South and Pankshin North decided to respectively hold a pre examination exercise at Kapil Pilot Primary School and Holy Cross Primary School concurrently on Saturday 1st June, 2024 also preparatory to the upcoming zonal examination holding across the state on 8th June, 2024.

Having sponsored the fifty (50) participants drawn from the five federal wards in Pankshin south constituency, Hon. Salome decided to pay a visit to the pre examination venue in Kapil Chip to encourage the pupils. Represented by her Personal Assistant, Rindap Elijah Dabel, Hon. Salome Tanimu Wanglek had the opportunity to address the staff and pupils who were on ground to take part in the exams. She underscored the importance of such competition in the lives of pupils from her constituency to include exposure to external examinations at an early age, networking with other pupils beyond their immediate local environments giving them the opportunity to brainstorm and cross fertilise ideas, confidence building, etc hence she will always do whatever it takes within her capacity to make sure that her constituents are not left out in such laudable opportunities. She told the pupils that they are the future of Pankshin south constituency; for this reason, they should do their best to fulfill the plans of God for their lives and for the constituency through them as vessels.

In their separate responses, the staff and students appreciated Hon. Salome for her supper to them and promised to make her and the entire constituency proud as they hope to compete up to the national level of the competition and possibly bring the trophy home. Mr. Augustine Dazuk who spoke on behalf of the staff noted that they have never doubted her passion for impacting the lives of her constituents even when she was stripped off the mandate freely given to her to represent the constituency in the state house of assembly as a result of the unfortunate circumstances within the Nigerian judiciary. He encouraged her to continue to create more impacts on the constituents because the people still believe in her as the true leader that represents the aspirations of the constituency.
