Hon. Salome Tanimu Wanglek engages with constituents; endorses Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for second term in office.

The Honourable Liaison Officer to His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in Pankshin South Constituency on Saturday 30th August, 2025 engaged with the good people of the constituency at White House Chip. This engagement was in line with the directive of the governor to all Liaison Officers to interact with the people in their various constituencies on the activities of the government across various parts of Plateau state. Coincidentally, the engagement came at a time Honourable Salome had planned to convene such a gathering after the local government election that took place across the state in October 2024 to appreciate the people for their massive support to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the polls. The meeting was also aimed at appreciating the people for their steadfastness and continued support to her since her tenure as a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly was truncated by the court and her subsequent appointment as a Liaison Officer to the governor.

Addressing the congregation, Hon. Salome Wanglek harped on the importance of commitment to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the need to continue to support the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, foster unity of purpose through genuine reconciliation, synergy and dialogue, improve and maintain grassroot engagement, involvement of women and youths inclusion in elective positions and political appointments.

While reeling out the achievements of the governor especially in Pankshin South Constituency, the meeting highlighted various road projects spanning across Pankshin connecting Lankan to Abwor-Dyis, then to Kagu linking Jipal in Mangu local government, the reconstruction of Jibam road and the second Jibam Bridge linking Quaan-Pan local government, the reconstruction of the road from Chip Junction linking Kwala and various road networks within Kwala town, the approval for the construction of Shiwer to Gungji Road linking Dokpai and Tal. The electrification of various communities across Pankshin South which is expected to be completed before December and the construction of various classroom blocks in primary and secondary schools within the constituency were also highlighted. The meeting further noted that these numerous achievements in addition to various human capital developments and empowerment programmes continue to flood the space and still counting despite the governor being the only pillar upon which the PDP government in the state stands having lost all senatorial, house of representatives and house of assembly positions to the unfortunate ruling of the court of appeal under the leadership of Justice Monica Dongbam Mensem.

Meanwhile, issues surrounding the governor’s political sojourn and status were clarified. It was emphasized that the governor remains a very strong top ranking member of the PDP whose loyalty to the party is absolutely unwavering. It was also emphasized that the governor has always been admired by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led government of the federation and many political parties and platforms across the country who, because of his high quality, wish to have him in their fold, his commitment to the ideals of the PDP has never been in doubt and it remains the solid platform upon which he will win his re-election for a second term in 2027.

Consequently, the people of Pankshin South Constituency led by Hon. Salome Tanimu Wanglek endorsed His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang with his deputy, Ngwo Josephine Piyo as the sole unopposed candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for re-election in 2027. The motion was moved by Prince Mulak Bege Wesley and seconded by Mrs. Tani Markus, then unanimously supported by the entire people of Pankshin South Constituency.

Present at the meeting were party officials from the state down to the unit level, all political appointees of the governor, the deputy chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, all elected councillors from Pankshin South Constituency, local government appointees from the constituency, elders, critical stakeholders and party supporters. Also attending in solidarity with the constituency was the Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon.
