Hon. Mrs. Wanglek Salome attends the awareness meeting of Trust Movement group

9th October, 2022.

Further to her engagements and consultations with constituents and party faithfuls, the flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Pankshin South Constituency, Hon. Salome Tanimu Wanglek was in Kagu Ward on Sunday 9th October, 2022 to honour an awareness meeting convened by a political group known as Trust Movement. The group which is a creation of PDP faithfuls and advocates for good governance consists of not less than twenty members in each polling unit across the seventeen local governments of Plateau state. Top among the aims and objectives of the group include the sensitization of electorates on a wide range of issues ranging from vote buying to manipulations using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (B-VAS) and other electoral malpractices.

While addressing the gathering, Hon. Salome expressed happiness with the Trust Movement group for the awareness meeting which provides the opportunity to expose all the lies and the evil plans/machinations of those whose stock in trade is to deceive, manipulate and mislead the people. She recounted the hardships being experienced under the present APC government as enough reasons for the electorates to resist and send them packing because the citizens can no longer afford to continue to suffer under such tendencies of bad governance.

The campaign DG of the candidate, Mr. Sekyen Bakle also spoke at the meeting. He challenged women to take ownership of Salome’s project so as not to let this opportunity given to women slip away. He went down memory lane to decry how the cost of items had taken a dramatic turn and kept skyrocketing to records high since the APC took over in 2015 to date.

Earlier in a welcome address, the convener of the group, Mr. Tapleng Nanribet Ayuba noted that the idea of the group started in Kagu and subsequently expanded to other parts of Plateau state. Being their brainchild, Kagu therefore remains the engine room for the group hence the first awareness meeting in Kagu is a depiction of the saying “charity begins at home”. He defined the pattern for the 2023 general elections which shall ensure victory for all the candidates of the PDP as the only party that has been proven to provide good governance to Nigerians.

Comments also came from various speakers including Mr. Panji Shedrach (Shadoor) who doubles as the PDP chairman of Kagu Ward and Jiblik Federal Ward, the representative of the youths, Mr. Tongnan Dashe, the representative of the women Mrs Mwanret Davreng and Elder Urbanus Dayit who spoke on behalf of the elders as well as Mr. Zion Kopji Satdom who represented the party’s flag bearer of PKK, Ziphion Chrysantus Terkop. In their separate remarks, they challenged the audience to compare and contrast the government of the PDP as it held sway and the current realities and decide for themselves which one is better so as to giude their choices at the polls come 2023. They enjoined the audience to resist the temptation of allowing any desire for immediate gratification to deny them the true dividends of democracy in the long run.

Elders, women and youths cutting across all the polling units in Kagu namely— Kagu Centre, Tilengdyes, Dangmet, Laplek, Gutong, Baal, Raas, Jingkam, Adyes and Kavun were in attendance at the meeting.
