Following public outcry by individuals, Traditional Rulers, Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW, All Farmers Association of Nigeria AFAN, Marketers Association of Nigeria MAN and Trade Union Congress TUC of Shendam, Qua’an-Pan and Mikang Federal Constituency regarding the deplorable state of Lafia-Kurgwi-Shendam-Ibi road, the Honorable member representing Shendam, Qua’an-Pan and Mikang Federal Constituency, Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap has raised a motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the House on the need for the rehabilitation of the deplorable road, and to immediately fix the ”almost collapsed” bridge on the road at Sabon Gida, linking Nasarawa and Plateau, leading to Taraba State.

In his submission, Hon. Komsol stated that the three states of Plateau, Nasarawa and Taraba are all agrarian states, hence the need for urgent intervention by the Federal Ministry of works and FERMA, for ease of movements of agricultural goods and services from the three states to the Eastern and Southern parts of the country.
Hon. Komsol emphasized that the road has been completely in disrepair, totally unpliable with gullies, which serves as a death trap for motorist and breeding grounds for hoodlums, and armed robbers, thereby posing security threats in communities around the dilapidated road.
Please recall that during the last raining season, the bridge linking Nasarawa and Plateau, leading to Ibi in Taraba state was almost washed away, leaving the road almost impassable and Hon. Komsol since 4th November, 2019, wrote to FERMA, requesting a meeting with the management of FERMA as well as their intervention to fix the almost collapsed bridge and rehabilitate the entire road, but there was no response which irked the member to raise a motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the House which necessitated FERMA’s prompt response, accepting to fix the bridge and rehabilitate the unpliable Lafia-Kurgwi-Shendam-Ibi road, as well as accepting to meet with Hon. Komsol and the three members of the State Assembly representing Shendam, Qua’an-Pan North and South State Constituencies by Friday this Week.

Hon. Komsol while appreciating his Constituents for their Patience, resilience and support, urges them not to lose faith as he’s working round the clock to ensure human capital Development and Social welfare of citizens take the centre stage in all his dealings as witnessed in the recent Hon. Komsol- influenced employment of constituents some days ago, owing it to God and unflinching support by constituents, assuring constituents of more employments to come, charging the new employees to be good ambassadors of Shendam, Qua’an-Pan and Mikang Federal Constituency in their places of assignments.
