The Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Istifanus Gyang, has raised alarm that from January to June, 2015, 276 persons were killed, 350 others fatally injured and over 22, 000 of his constituents displaced following attacks by terrorists; urging President Muhammadu Buhari to profile and classify the attacks in his Constituency as acts of terrorism.

Gyang disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Jos, Sunday, saying he had to present the issue as a matter of urgent public importance in the floor of the House last week.

“As at the last count, 38 village communities were attacked, many of them totally burnt down and destroyed by the attackers this year.

“The scale and frequency of terror attacks on the communities in Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency is alarming. He lamented.

He decried that the incessant terror attack is impeding and retarding all well meaning efforts at peace building.

“I urged the Executive Arm of Government to profile and classify the attacks as acts of terrorism and the Inspector General of Police to investigate and prosecute the attackers.

Gyang who was the immediate past Permanent Secretary Security, Plateau State Government House, further urged the Federal Government to in its determination to deal decisively with insecurity and terror attacks, do a comprehensive security mapping of the entire country and put in place appropriate security measures, so as to effectively safeguard constitutionally guaranteed rights of the citizenry and arrest further terror attacks.

“I again urged President Muhammadu Buhari to include the survinving and displaced people of my constituency who are now destitute, in federal government’s plan of rehabilitating and resettling victims of terror

attacks in the North East region.

He further called on the Federal Government to deploy its trauma management capacity to attend to the traumatized victims in his constituency.

He appealed to NEMA to administer immediate relief materials and assistance to the displaced victims.

The Lawmaker condemn the terror attacks and mass killings and sympathized with the displaced and traumatized victims of his contituency.

It would be recalled that since last week Wednesday, the State government had imposed an indefinite dusk to dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi and Riyom LGAs, to last between 6pm and 6am daily.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Rufus Bature, said the decision is to forestall further outbreak of violence in the aforementioned councils.
