Although the Official Children’s Day is marked on the 27th of May, Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago- Member Representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, chose to kick off celebrations early. On Sunday, 25th May 2025, he joined the Children’s Ministry of Rahama Baptist Church, Katon Rikos, in a special event that coincided with the 20th Anniversary Reunion and Celebration of Comrade Ajik Amose’s service in Children’s Ministry.
Comrade Ajik Amose, who currently serves as the Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to Hon. Asama, has devoted two decades of selfless commitment to the spiritual and moral development of children in the ministry. Hon. Asama, known widely for his passion for children’s welfare, seized the opportunity to both celebrate Children’s Day and acknowledge this remarkable milestone in service.

While addressing the congregation, Hon. Asama described the day as significant- not only for commemorating global Children’s Day but also for celebrating a man who has remained steadfast in his commitment to the growth and care of young minds. According to the lawmaker, children are not only the pride of today but the promise of tomorrow. “When you invest in a child,” he said, “you are directly building the future. Our children must be nurtured in Truth, Love, Knowledge, and the Fear of God.”

He emphasized the importance of sound upbringing and spiritual grounding for children, stressing that children must be trained not just to Survive, but to Thrive. “Every child has a right to Live, to Grow, and to Contribute meaningfully to Society. We must reject every form of child Labour and Abuse,” he declared. “Parents must take bold responsibility for raising their children with Love, Discipline, and practical Skills that will make them self-reliant and capable of becoming employers of labour in the Nigeria of our dreams.”
The Hon. Member expressed profound gratitude to his SLA, Comrade Ajik Amose, for choosing to give back to his roots and for his lifelong investment in children’s ministry. He noted that such acts of Service and Legacy must be acknowledged, supported, and emulated.
Hon. Asama, who has spent most of his adult life advocating for child welfare, also shared his own experience as a former leader in the Orphanages and Caregivers Association. “Children have always been at the core of my public service journey,” he said. “I have been a father to many foster children, and I remain committed to nurturing and defending their rights.”

In his concluding remarks, Hon. Asama prayed that Rahama Baptist Church would continue in its tradition of raising children in the Light and Truth of God’s word. He urged the Church and the wider community to remain vigilant in protecting Child Rights and creating a Zero-tolerance Culture for Abuse, so as to guarantee a Sustainable and Thriving Society for All.
