Barkin Ladi/Gwol Local Government is one of the oldest local governments in Plateau State and possesses significant deposits of natural resources capable of catapulting the local government into a position of comparative advantage in producing and packaging these natural endowments to increase the revenue capacity of the LGA and accelerate development for the people. This requires strong leadership, and we see that capacity in Engr. Choji Chuwang.

AGRICULTURE: Bladi is among the top 5 LGAs in Plateau State in terms of food production, particularly vegetables that are regarded as the best anywhere in Nigeria due to the rich and favorable weather suitable for cultivating such crops. This advantage has yet to be fully realized by our local government. Engr. Choji Chuwang has identified this opportunity with his team and has developed a model concept through which our people can be empowered via the local government’s Department of Agriculture to harness this potential, improve the income of our citizens, and boost the revenue of the council area.

EDUCATION: The passion that Engr. Choji Chuwang has for the education of the children of Bladi is profound, and it cannot be adequately captured in a short essay. However, Engr. Choji has a clear, strategic, and comprehensive model for education in Bladi, focusing on primary education, which falls within the jurisdiction of the local government. Among other initiatives to transform education in Bladi, we plan to provide school buses to transport our children to schools across the local government. This is not merely a luxury; it is a necessary step that would bring dignity to the children and attract those who have left school due to a lack of motivation from the government. This is just one of the many plans Engr. Choji Chuwang has for the children and the future of education in Bladi.

SECURITY: We are fully aware of the devastating setbacks that insecurity has caused us as a state, particularly in Bladi. The experience Engr. Choji Chuwang gained during his time as BYM National President will be invaluable in providing solutions to the security challenges facing Bladi. We have plans to improve the settlement patterns of our people to enhance security and provide housing for our citizens as part of our strategy to address security and welfare issues in Bladi.

HEALTH CARE: The quality of healthcare in our local government is a significant concern for the RENUYEL VWEL GWOL because we cannot have a population without addressing their health needs. We believe that a healthy population is pivotal to the development of Bladi, which is why we have a well-developed concept for healthcare that includes modern comprehensive healthcare facilities in each district of Bladi. We plan to collaborate with NYSC to send doctors to these facilities while the council provides accommodation and transportation as incentives.

These will be our thematic focus areas for the people of Bladi, as we also pay serious attention to rural road networks, rural electrification, the provision of dams to boost dry season farming, an organized transport system, and the upgrading of rural markets to enhance the rural economy and increase revenue generation.

Engr. Choji Chuwang has assembled a team of young people and senior citizens of Bladi who are already in place, ensuring that once we take office, we can hit the ground working.
