A newly installed traditional chief in Nigeria’s Bokkos LGA, Plateau State, Mr. Haruna Maren has been killed in a fresh attack by unknown gunmen.

The attack which occurred last night in Tadai village, Monguna district also left one Mashat Bala, Benjamin Rafan and a Fulani herder, Idi Bucho dead.

A source from the village, an Abuja based Development expert and human rights activist, Machief Ayuba reported that the attack took place at about 8pm at the traditional chief’s medical store.

Another source in the village who pleaded anonymity said the attack was carried out by three Fulani men armed with AK47 rifles.

The deceased chief was recently installed as the Galadima (Community leader) of Monguna following the death of the former as a result of heart attack.

The deceased senior traditional chief, the Saf Monguna, Chief Daniel Adake was in 2015 killed in similar attack by suspected Fulani.

The attack was followed shortly by the killing of the Paramount ruler of Bokkos, Saf Lazarus Agai in 2016.

Authorities had pledged to investigate and prosecute all involved in the attacks but nothing has yet been heard.
