Unknown gunmen struck and killed five villagers on Tuesday night in Foron village of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state. The gunmen whom villagers described as Fulani herdsmen stormed the village at about 9pm and shot the victims who were on the verge of retiring to bed.
Plateau state deputy Police Public Relation officer (PPRO), ASP Dominic Esin confirmed the killings to newsmen. He said that four of the dead were children of same family while the fifth was a member of the community vigilante group.

Esin said that the man was killed when he went out to establish what was going on after hearing gunshots in the area. The father and mother of the dead children were also injured alongside two other villagers. The deputy PPRO added that the injured were being treated at Plateau Specialist Hospital in Jos while investigation was on to ascertain the identity of the perpetrators.
The immediate past Management Committee Chairman of the LGA, Emmanuel Loman who confirmed the incident to newsmen said it was pathetic.
