As political intrigues in Plateau continue to advance into critical stages, another group of concerned youth have lent their voices to the already terse debate about zoning.

The group, The Coalition of Concerned Plateau Northern Youths have vociferously condemned the call by other groups that the governorship seat be retained in Plateau North.

In a press statement made available to ViewPointNigeria, the zone advocates that for the spirit of fairness and justice, the governorship seat be zoned to Plateau South.

In a press statement made available to ViewPointNigeria, the group advocated that for the spirit of fairness and justice, the governorship seat be zoned to Plateau South.

The statement read ”After a critical look at the scenario, we have decided not to be onlookers in the game as it will amount to abuse of our youthfulness, hence we decided to come together irrespective of gender, ethnic and religious backgrounds to speak with one voice. This undoubtedly is key to the growth of democracy and good governance, as over time we have failed to act and speak when we needed to. It is unfortunate that some of our elders who are supposedly our role models, mentors, and leaders have decided to toe this risky path of agitating for a northern candidature without reflecting on the collective future and togetherness of the Plateau youths whom are the prize of future generation.
We say that the dance step by the non-existent Plateau North Political Front (PNPF) which surfaced on the political scene only a few months back to agitate for this position in a press conference held at Pastoral Centre sometimes in May this year is not acceptable and does not reflect the view of an average Plateau Northern man.

The position of the governor should not be retained in Plateau North but be rotated to other zones in the spirit of equity and fairness“. The press release was signed by the 14 members of the group

It would be recalled that a group -the Plateau North Political Front (PNPF), had previously come out advocating for the retention of the governorship seat in Plateau North, arguing that there was never such a thing as zoning and challenging anyone with proof to step forward.
