As more and more drama continues to unfold on the Plateau political scene, a group known as PLATEAU UNITY GROUP, headed by comrade James Zaki has endorsed Barr. Istifanus D. Gyang the Permanent Secretary of the Governor on security matters, for the 2015 Governorship seat, and urged him to immediately declare his intention to run.

Gyang the Permanent Secretary to the Governor on security matters, for the 2015 Governorship seat, and urged him to immediately declare his intention to run. 

In a press release made available to ViewPointNigeria’s correspondent dated 19th June 2014, the group calls on Plateau Youth to rally round the candidate, whom they described as a man of character sent by God to continue to actualise the vision and mission of the “Redemption Agenda”. “We are not unmindful of the dust being raised by some undemocratic forces as regards some purported zoning formulas. As far as Plateau politics is concerned, zoning is strange and unacceptable, people should vote for good candidates and not simply canvass for their geographical areas. 

By all standards, Barr. I D gyang is a man of character and principle. He knows very well the art of leadership and will powerfully change the state if given the mandate. We call on him to declare and let’s start full-scale mobilization of youths across the state. He remains the best candidate and we are strongly behind him. He has touched lives of many in different ways and has the pedigree to lead with honour, courage and excellence.

We encourage that other candidates work hard towards realizing their goals rather than heating the polity with the dirty politics of blackmail and zoning.
