In further advancement of infrastructural development in Plateau state, the Government has said that it has awarded a contract for the construction of up to 3,000 houses in the Kuru (Mararaba Jama’a) axis of the state. The announcement was mades by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Solomon Maren, who told newsmen on Thursday in Jos that building of the houses was in furtherance of the “Greater Jos Master Plan”.

Whilst presenting the title documents to ABC Shelters Nig. Limited, the construction firm for the project, he disclosed that the project would cost approx. N30 billion. The commissioner added that the houses, would be built for three key income levels i.e., for high, middle and low income earners and that the project would generate more than 7,000 jobs for youths. He said “One of our major reasons of going into this heavy project is basically to actualise the Greater Jos Master Plan. “We want to give the city of Jos a good look in all its ramifications. “Governor Jonah Jang is poised to give the people of Plateau the best form of leadership. “Jang has promised the people of Plateau that before the end of his administration in 2015, all sectors of the economy would witness drastic transformation,” he said.

Speaking, the General Manager of the firm who would undertake the contract (i,e., ABC Shelters Nig. Ltd), Mr Ezekiel Uzochukwu, thanked the state government for the confidence bestowed on the firm to handle the project. Stating that given their commitment and expertise, the project would be completed within the stipulated time. Saying that when the project is completed, the estate would be called “Jos Garden City”.
