Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, has said tourism has the potential to keep productive youths engaged and can take youths off restiveness in the state and the country in general.

He spoke during the official unveiling of the Jos Carnival logo and mascot in Jos at the weekend with the theme, “Glamour and Limitless Possibilities.”

According to him, when his administration came on board , peace, security and good governance were the key policy thrust,he hinged his administration on.

He assured that the policies will be pursued vigorously so that the state can enhance it socio-economic development in all aspects .

He pointed out that tourism remains undoubtedly one key area of advantage for them as a state, hence their interest in this sector, so that through the potentials that reside in tourism they can achieve development in an atmosphere of peace and security.

“Today’s event is therefore unique, because we will be strategically unveiling and announcing our interest in the culture, tourism and

Hospitality industry in the state to Nigeria and the world in general.”

He commended the ministry of culture, tourism and hospitality and all other stakeholders in the tourism sector, for the collaboration in unveiling the Jos Carnival Logo and Mascot for the 2017, Jos Carnival.

Governor Lalong further stressed, “This event to the best of my knowledge is the first in the history of the state, which is to replicate and modify the national cultural carnival organised by the federal ministry of tourism and culture, which interestingly Plateau State’s contingents have always stood out uniquely, among all the participating cultural troupes in the country.”
