Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau State says he will sign and issue 55,000 Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to prospective developers on May 29.

He said this while fielding questions at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) forum in Abuja.

He said that the gesture was part of activities to mark his one year in office.

Lalong said that the state government had failed to issue C of O in the last five years, as many residents were forced to flee the state due to security challenges.

He also said that non-issuance of those certificates served as hindrance to business owners in the state

“For more than five years, no Certificates of Occupancy were issued.

“So when people were running, how can you even issue certificates again, so the governor did not issue, but we have packaged all the certificates and put them together.

“And that is what we want to use by May 29 to flag off signing of certificates of over 55,000 for Nigerians, I didn’t say only Plateau people.

“For Nigerians who wants to live in Plateau state and who will want to come and operate business, so certificate is no longer going to be an issue.

“I also advice those who ran away, come back and trace your root of title and we will give you a certificate to live in Plateau State.’’

Lalong said that registration of land titles would also serve as a way of generating revenue for the state. (NAN)
