RE: GAGDI REJECTS NENTAWE, DIKET PLANG, APC, DIRECTS SUPPORTERS TO VOTE PDP FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
Our attention has been drawn to the media report with the above title by a faceless group that is trending on the social media alongside a sliced video of Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi instructing his supporters to deliver PDP from top to bottom.
There is no denying the fact that our Principal had a slip of tongue, where he mentioned that “we are determined to deliver PDP from top to bottom”, however, he immediately corrected himself by stating the obvious.
Sadly, the PDP ingeniously edited the video to suit its mischievous intent and purposes. Mistake is an attribute of human nature, otherwise man would have equated himself with God, who remains infallible.
There is no denying the fact: ‘Even computers make errors, let alone human beings. The tongue can slip at any time, however, the good thing is the person’s ability to recover.
Recall that recently the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had a similar slip of tongue, while at a rally in Jos. Dino Melaye also repeatedly mentioned that “we will deliver APC” while he meant to say PDP.
Indeed, Titi Atiku made similar mistake. Yet, in all of these, the APC recognizes the fallibility of human nature and never made such as a campaign tool against them.
For the members of an opposition party seeking to wrestle power from APC to condescend so low as to indulge in sheer blackmail, and dishing out frivolities as campaign tools, means they are not yet ready for politics, let alone governance.
For starters, the mammoth gathering at the Dengi Mini-Stadium was just for the inauguration of Gagdi reelection campaign council, not even the flagoff of his campaign, as the PDP purportedly conveyed in their puerile concoction.
We understand why PDP has become so jittery, what with the capacity demonstrated in Kanam by the multitude that graced the inauguration of the campaign council. It was a clear signal that PDP is literally non-existent in Kanam LGA, hence their unwitting resort to blackmail.
Make no mistake, the gathering in Dengi was 99 percent successful. The people of Dengi town, with members of the Campaign Council from Pankshin and Kanke LGAs who came for their inauguration made it one of the biggest events to have been staged.
Yet, it is on record that we witnessed a mammoth crowd twice or thrice the size of the people that converged at Pankshin Tomato market two weeks for the PDP zonal rally of the Central Zone.
The Pankshin Tomato market zonal rally was supposedly a gathering encompassing the PDP gubernatorial candidate , Senatorial, two House of Representatives and eight House of Assembly candidates’ election campaign flag off, yet an inauguration of a House of Representatives candidate’s campaign council eclipsed their sparse gathering by all standards.
We can understand their grouse on this score. If they are not happy with our outing this time, pray, how would they feel, when the actual flagoff takes place? We can only imagine how they will be livid with anger at the turn of events .
Gagdi is the House of Representatives candidate of the APC for PKK, it is therefore nonsensical of any serious political party to claim that he will declare support for the PDP in whatever guise; it would even mean that he is campaigning against himself. This does not make sense to any reasonable person.
We understand why the mention of the name Gagdi has become a serious issue for political discourse in Plateau State. Any politician, whether in PDP or LP can be his/her own version of Gagdi if they choose to be selfless and committed in their dealings with the electorate. It is just a matter of building trust through service delivery.
We challenge the PDP to be responsible for once and play politics with decorum, rather than their usual blackmail and mudslinging. Politics is a serious business that should not be trivialized. It is about what we can do for our electorate, not about peddling sentiments and mundane frivolities.
As for our campaign flag off, the PDP should watch out for February 6, 2023 when we will kickstart our campaign at the Pankshin Mini-Stadium, and not a t the Pankshin Tomato market; then will they learn how an event of such magnitude that will lead to electoral victory is being staged.
