D.M . Longgul reports
In a move that has solidified his political standing in Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency, recently concluded a high-impact constituency engagement tour across the three local Government areas. The visit served as both an accountability session and a platform for constituents to voice their future expectations for the “Babayo” brand of leadership.
Addressing a massive crowd of supporters and traditional leaders, from Pankshin to Kanke and Kanam, the Rt. Hon. Gagdi reaffirmed his dedication to transparent governance, stating, “I publicly announced the 2024 constituency intervention… and I do the same for 2025… That is accountability to the people who elected us”. He says ….
The lawmaker emphasized that his work in the National Assembly is driven by the immediate needs of his people, particularly in the face of regional challenges. Highlighting his recent legislative efforts to secure federal support for vulnerable areas, he noted, “Assist victims of bandit attacks in Plateau,” as he continued to advocate for federal government intervention in the security of his constituency.
The tour was marked by a resonant and unified call from various stakeholders—including youth groups and community elders—for the lawmaker to seek a third term in 2027. This early endorsement is widely seen as a testament to his record-breaking performance in a constituency historically known for rotating its representatives.
One community leader, echoing the sentiments of many in Kanam and Kanke, remarked that the 2027 call is based on tangible results: “Now is time for governance,” referring to the lawmaker’s focus on project execution over early campaigning, which ironically has fueled the public’s desire for his continued service.
Legislative Landmark and Local Impact
Constituents pointed to major achievements as the catalyst for their re-election demand, most notably the transformation of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Pankshin into a Federal University. And the appointment of many youths with pamanent pensionable jobs in different institutions. This move has been hailed as an “extraordinary achievement in the advancement of education within Plateau State”.
In response to the overwhelming support, Gagdi maintained his focus on his current legislative duties while acknowledging the weight of the people’s trust. He reiterated his mission “to serve with integrity and accountability… ensuring that progress reaches every home, community, and constituency”.
As the engagement concluded, the consensus across Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam was clear: the people believe they have found a representative whose impact justifies a continued mandate into 2027 and beyond.
