Updates – Plateau LG Elections 2014

Bokkos: Reports reaching us suggest that the election in Bokkos is relatively peaceful. However there have been reports that ballot papers were not made available to voters in the entire Mushere axis and a few other areas contrued to be oppposition strongholds. Electoral registers were also copiously absent and a large number of voters are yet to be accredited to cast their votes. The SSS were however said to be onground to bring normalcy to a situation which could have potentially gone out of control.

At another polling unit in “Kuba” area of Bokkos, voting was reported to be progressing well and relative calm and civility was evident. However, at the polling unit at Tenti Babba, there were severe hitches, which threatened to derail the process -only approx. 200 ballot papers were made for the approx. 1000 people said to be waiting to cast their votes. 

Several opposition politicians are already calling the electoral process flawed, but at the time of filing this report no comments could be received from any PLASIEC officials about the polls.
