Four persons have been reportedly killed in a renewed clash between Fulani herdsmen and Berom in Foron village of Barkin Ladi local government, Plateau State.

Three soldiers attached to the Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis were also allegedly injured and are now lying in critical conditions in the hospital.

Chairman of Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Samson Tsok blamed the recent hostilities on the herders whom he said swamped on the village of Foron on Tuesday night.

“Foron was attacked by Fulani last Tuesday night when two of our boys were killed in the attack and four others people are still missing till this moment.”

Tsok continued, “Early this morning, some soldiers of the Special Task Force (STF) suddenly stormed the village for search without notifying us; we felt under siege.

“The soldiers came in the company of some Fulani who were pointing to houses the soldiers should ransack. At the end of the so-called search, they did not tell us if they found anything.”

Leader of the Fulani group, Mohammed Adamu, who shifted the blame back to the Berom, said, “Some of our boys took cattle for grazing on Tuesday evening, and while in the field some armed men suspected to be Berom youths shot and killed eight cows. The herdsmen who were grazing the cows were killed. We have found one body of the herdsmen killed, but the other four are still yet missing.”
