Forget rumours of a new faction in APC, I remain chairman – Letep Dabang

The Chairman of Plateau chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Letep Dabang, has dismissed reports that the party had broken into two factions in the state.

“It is just a rumour that we heard the way everyone heard; I am the chairman and I do not know of any division in my party in Plateau,” Dabang told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Tuesday.

Newspapers had reported the formation of a faction within the party, following alleged disagreements between Gov. Simon Lalong and a top political office holder in the state.

Dabang dismissed the reports as baseless, adding that the party had been waxing stronger since it won the governorship seat in the April 11, 2015 election.

“If there is a new faction, where is their secretariat? And who is their chairman?” he asked rhetorically.

Dabang, however, agreed that there were individuals in the state that had refused to submit themselves to the leadership of the party.

“There are some groups and individuals that have refused to submit themselves to the leadership of the party, for reasons best known to them.

“As a party, we have tried to bring them on board without much success, but we have not been told that they have formed their own faction independent of the central leadership.”

The chairman said that the party was already “moving forward” and advised sceptics to bury their hatchets, so as to build a more stronger and indivisible team.

He assured that the leadership of the party was ready to listen to and resolve any problem among its members. (NAN)
