The Country Vice President and National President of the International Federation Of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Mrs. Rhoda Prevail Tyoden has decorated Davou E. Nyako, founder Heal our Land Global Initiative as FIDA Ambassador in Plateau State.
Mrs. Tyoden, who decorated Nyako during the FIDA week, congratulated him for standing by FIDA and urged him to continue to project the image of the organization.
Responding, Ambassador Davou E Nyako known also as Deekay Nyako, who was in high spirit accepted to work with FIDA in the campaign against rape and other criminal activities.
It was gathered that the event which held at Sarau event center Jos, witnessed a large turnout of Female lawyers in the state and the National chapter to make history.
The programme which has a theme, “Role of FIDA in enhanching the right of indigent women and children in our society” sensitised people on the violence against women and children.
The National President called on women lawyers in the state to create massive awareness in the areas of rape, child protection, and the plight of internal displaced persons in accordance with the tasks of the organization.
She urged women lawyers to also care and fight against domestic violence and molestation of indigent women and children in the society.
“It’s partinent to note that sexual violence thrives because of the ‘culture of silence’ and non prosecution. We must all fight against the culture of silence and non prosecution of gender based violence offences to a stand still.” She said.
However, Justice Philomena Lot tasked the Women lawyers to take the task ahead of them seriously to help actualize the dre of FIDA.
The Chairperson FIDA, Plateau State, Mrs Mary Abah Izam congratulated the Ambassador and participants for making history and setting the pace for the future of FIDA in the state.
Praises where showered on the State chairperson for her inclusive leadership which brought together the female lawyers in the state.
Other dignitaries at the event were permanent secretary, ministry of Justice, senior members of the bar and bench as well as Associate Prof. Chinwe Okoli, and Hon. Olivia Dazem.
The state chairman of NBA pledged to work hand in hand with the organization and also announced that FIDA will henceforth have it’s desk at the NBA Secretariat.
