Dr Amos Cirfat, new Provost, Federal College of Education (FCE), Pankshin has  warned the college staff against indolence and bickering.

Addressing the staff of the college at the college auditorium, the Provost said a situation where staff don’t take their jobs serious would no more be tolerated nor bickering, which described as “damaging and cancerous.”

He told  the staff that he would not entertain any sycophancy but prefers people to come to him with beautiful ideas on how best to move the college forward.

“We must be all be seen to adhere to work ethics and tackle all problems of inefficiency and capacity collapse by acting justly and fairly to due process not only paying lip service to ethical conduct.

“I am aware that staff welfare in the college is very critical and important for quality service delivery, therefore  proper mechanisms would be put in place to ensure that welfare services are adequately provided to improve their morale for improve productivity in workplace.

“The college mission and vision which is toward best quality teachers in basic and post basic education in Nigeria and  improve the quality of teaching and teacher development package that would compete globally,” he assured.

While pledging to pursue completion of ongoing projects, the provost said that he would create and nurture platforms toward promoting Public Private Partnership (PPP) and linkages with national and international donor agencies to raise funds for smooth running of the college.

“We will provide level playing ground for all the staff and students in the college and create a good working relationship among staff, students and the host community.”

Cirfat pledged to promote prudent use of resources and do all to support the parent Education Ministry and the Federal Government toward attaining the goal of sustainable national development.

Earlier, some of the staff who spoke during the forum pledged their loyalty to the provost and the management team to ensure that the college attain the desire heights

Mr  Emmanuel Hemba, COEASU Chairman said that the academic staff would give him the maximum cooperation and support for him to succeed as the helmsman of the college and do their best in the terms of training of quality teachers to attain the desired goals.

“But Sir, that does not mean that we will not bite when there is any issue at stake between the management and our union,” Hemba warned.
