Dr. Selky, A model to other monarchs, Say British Councilors

Councillor representing Moss Side and Longsight, Dr Erinma Bell, and Councilor representing Walkden South, Hilaria Asumu, both in United Kingdom, yesterday, said the peace building and youth empowerment initiative of HRH Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi, is worthy of emulation.

They stated this in Oldham, Manchester when they played host to one of the most revered monarchs in Niger Delta region, HRH Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi, the Eyewei the fifth of Azzuzuama, Southern Ijaw Local Government, Bayelsa State.

The two British elected councillors commended the monarch for being an ambassador of peace in the region as urged him to sustain the initiative for the betterment of the Niger Delta region.

Councilor Bell and Councilor Hilaria observed that they were privileged to hear the true story of the Niger Delta struggle from the source, Dr. Selky, adding that they hear a lot of negative stories about the struggle, which they noted was not true reflection of the struggle.

“ We want to thank for your role in ensuring relative and sustainable peace in Niger Delta. His role to change the narrative of the Niger Delta region, representing the image of the region positively in a way that is gaining international community engagement and attention” They noted

Responding, Dr. Selky Torughedi, noted that the youths in Niger Delta were only agitating for equitable distribution of the crude oil in the region, sustainable development, clean environment and economic development for Niger Delta and Nigeria.

He thanked the councillors and the organisers for the warm reception and for their prayers and promised redouble his efforts in sustainable peace and growth of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria as a whole.
