Professor Patrick Dakum, Chief Executive of the Institute of Human Virology and Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Maryland, USA –yesterday 25th May 2020 distributed truckloads of food items, to orphanages in Jos and Bassa LGA’s respectively.
Delivering the items on behalf of professor Dakum, Comrade Nanle Gujor explained that there is no greater joy than remembering orphans and the less privileged in difficult moments –such as these COVID-19 times. He expressed optimism that these tough times will without a doubt pass and encouraged all and sundry to remain resolute and firm.
The orphanages that benefited from the gesture were the “House of Recap” in Jos and “city of refuge, (Youth with a mission) at dusten kura,behind Rukuba Barracks. Bassa LGA
Receiving the bags of rice, and tubers of yam at the House of Recap Jos, the representative of the Orphanage expressed joy at the humanitarian gesture saying they are deeply touched by the kindness shown by Dr Patrick Dakum. They asked God to repay him a thousand-fold.
At the “Youth with a mission orphanage”, where bags of rice, tubers of yam were distributed, the recipients were overjoyed by what they called the “charitable heart” of Dr Patrick Dakum. They said “the true essence and worth of a man is usually seen during difficult and challenging situations and you have shown yourself worthy of being counted –God bless you”
Dr Patrick Dakum has been one of the leading voices in setting the COVID-19 agenda in the nation. In the last few months, he has been expert advising Government and the nation about what to do and how to do it.
