A cosponsored of Governor Simon Lalong to be elected as the Governor of Plateau State during the 2015 general elections and a renowned international Business Man Dr. Godfrey Bawa Shitgurum has at the weekend dumps Lalong and the All Progressive Congress APC and officially declared to Contest the Governorship seat on the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP come 2019.
Viewpoint Nigeria reliably gather that it was Dr. Bawa among others who hugely financed the APC in Plateau state from foundation up to the victory of the Governor Lalong in 2015, but had to defect due to lack of confidence on the APC administration in the state.
While declaring to contest for the Governorship seat at the PDP ward office Kwande and LGC office Doemak, Quapan LGC said his desire to join the race is to provide the basic social amenities such as roads, hospitals and schools that the citizens and the state is lacking which he has the capacity to set right, if given the opportunity to govern.
“I supported Governor Simon Lalong to ensure he was elected in 2015 to bring the desire development in the state, but he is lacking, I will actually take over to provide the need desires of the people at the grassroots, all the need is provide security, roads, hospitals and schools. I will also ensure good agricultural policies and create employment opportunities with my wealth of experience as an international businessman with the connections”.
The home Town of Dr. Bawa Kwande and Quapan Local Government as a whole witness thousands of supporters who storms the Doemark, Kwalla and Kurgwi Roads linking Kwande to received their illustrious Son who had indicated interests to run for the Governorship seat come 2019.
The PDP chairman of Quapan LGV Hon. Raymond Dangwam while recieving Dr. Godfrey Bawa with his Campaign officials including Mr Peter Dama a retired Director in the Federal Ministry of information and Communication and thousands of supporters who had come out to welcome him, describes Dr. Bawa as an asset to PDP and they are happy for him coming back to the party to contest.
“We learnt of how you helped Governor Lalong, as a citizen of Plateau state from the Southern zone to become the Governor of Plateau State, but we are now more happier that your back to your root the PDP to contest the same seat and coming from Quanpan, For this reason, I am happy and the party PDP is happy too”.
“We want to inform you that many people, who would defect from the APC because of you today are in their thousands and we are ready to receive them. We shall set a date to receive them and I assure you thousands will join you”.
Dr. Bawa had earlier visited the chairman Quapan Traditional Council and Longpan chiefdom HRH Nda Emmanuel Dabang to seeks for blessings
The Royal Father bless him and encourage him to pursue his ambition.
“This is a good news that my son is contesting for Governorship, I know that leadership comes from God, but I give you my blessings, anywhere you go you will be successful, however let it not be a do or die affairs, just focus on God”.
Also the Royal Fathers and Elders, led by the, Miskoom Niyu Senlong Bravu in Kwande District Council bless him and described him as a worthy son Who has taken their representation beyond the shores of Nigeria.
“You are our Son, Brother and Father, we are totally with you in this. If we can support others to achieved their aspirations to become governors in Plateau State, then this is our time for others to support us too.”
Viewpoint reports that the declaration witness a massive and a large number of supporters who came out from Kurgwi, Doema,kwalla and Kwande amongst other towns including women, Youths and the old to welcome Dr. Godfrey Bawa aspiration having built Hospital in Kwande, empowered hundreds of Youths as well as constant provision free health services to Quapan Local Government people yearly through the support of his lovely wife Rev. Tina Bawa Foundation.
