Information seeping in indicates that Dr Fabong Jemchang Yildam has emerged chairman of the Plateau Youths Council (PYC), beating Humphrey Dashe and other contestants. The youth body which was put into abeyance in the past has been rejuvenated and commissioned to serve as an umbrella body for Plateau youth affairs

The election signifies Government’s commitment to get the youths involved in governance and decision making. In the past, several youth organisations sprung up, claiming legitimacy to champion youth affairs but the were unable to do so because of the absent mandate.

This election gives legitimacy and backing to the leadership of the organisation and should go a long way to allow the championing of the Plateau youth agenda.
