Plateau state youth wing of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) have stated that the state’s attorney-general and commissioner of justice, Barrister Edward Pwajok does not have the moral or legal justification to proffer any legal opinion on matters between the DPP and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The DPP youth leaders in a press statement signed by Oscar Nanmwa stated that the attorney-general was a member of the PDP while the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) was an independent body. It said that it was unjustifiable to seek legal opinion from a partisan attorney-general.

It said that it was unjustifiable to seek legal opinion from a partisan attorney-general.

It added that that by announcing Godwin Kumzhi Nanmwa as winner of the Langtang North Council election, PLASIEC had brazenly lost its claim to independence and credibility. The statement stated “DPP’s result in Jat ward was reduced to 181 while that of PDP was increased to 787.”

It would be recalled that the Plateau State High Court presided over by Justice S P Gang struck out a mandamus proceeding filed by the PDP in respect of Langtang North local government election. The Plateau state Government thereafter swore in Godwin Kumzhi Nanmwa of the PDP as the elected chairman of the LGA.
