Donald Trump continues to shock observers in the race to the White House by winning the key battleground states of Ohio, Florida and North Carolina. In a race which experts had largely ceded to Clinton, with some saying she had an 80% chance of winning – she appears to have significantly under-performed by losing key battleground states which were hitherto seen as democratic safe havens.

At 4:42 GMT, Donald Trump has 216 electoral college votes to Clinton’s 209. Several states (e.g., Michigan etc) are yet to turn in their results but the race has appears much tighter than initially thought.
