By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Group operating under the aegis of All For One, One for all on Monday described Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, member representing Wase Federal Constituency of Plateau State at the House of Representatives, as the best candidate for deputy speakership of the 9th National Assembly.

The group in a statement issued in Jos and signed by Hon. Yakubu Samuel Maram, the National Coordinator reads that

“My comrades, fellow youth from Plateau state and Middle belt, members of ‘All for One, One for all’, it has become imperative to address you today on the events emerging from the National Assembly as it pertains the election of Principal officers that will stair the ship of the 9th assembly in the House of Representatives. Nigerians expect a leadership that will build a harmonious working relationship between the three arms of Government in the next dispensation
We are here to openly declare our support and to put our weight behind the candidature of Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje) as our Party choice for the position of the Deputy speaker in the Green Chamber. An astute leader who is known as a man of simplicity, honesty and hard work, virtues which became visible since he came to lime light in 2005 as Executive Secretary, Muslim Pilgrim board and subsequently, a member representing Wase Federal constituency from 2007 till date in the House of Representatives, where he served in 9 different committee and as Chairman Federal Character Committee from 2011 till date and currently the Deputy House Leader (from late last year) with an exceptional display of leadership. A man of the people.

It’s on record that his calmness and unequal drive towards equity is second to none. He took it upon himself to close the gap and the imbalances created across various state, in terms of employment and infrastructural distribution to bring them in line with the constitutional requirement of federal character Principles. He has equally distinguished himself to his constituents and has excelled in such areas as youths empowerment, increased access to quality education and general infrastructure provision for the various parts of his constituency. He has sponsored several bills and has supported the passage of some executive bills that has impacted on the good governance in the country. His contributions are legendary on the floor of the house, often and always displaying wisdom.

For Fairless, equity and based on the geo political APC voting strength, we thought that our great party, the APC will zone the Speakership position to the north central geo political zone. This is more so that the North Central zone has not held the Speakership position since the start of this republic in 1999. The Speakership position would have naturally been best fitted for Hon Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje), being one of the longest serving member from the NC and a loyal party man with strong support among his colleagues. However, our great party, the APC and Mr President has thought it differently by zoning the Deputy Speaker rather to the North Central and micro zoned it to Hon Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje) in particular. Hon Wase’s acceptance to respect the party position and Mr President’s inclination and accept the Deputy Speakership shows how deeply committed he is in supporting the party ideals and ensuring the unity of purpose that is needed to move the country to the next level. We have equally accepted the position of the party.

Gentlemen of the press and my fellow compatriots, going by his antecedents we can boldly say, Hon Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje) is prepared to take on the Deputy speakership of the House. We have unanimously endorse him for that position and intends to mobilise all the support we can through our national office using the various state offices to canvass for more support for him. We happily align with his aspiration from our national, down to our zonal and state office.

We sincerely want to appreciate the Party at the national level, that have taking the bold step, to make sure a credible leadership is put in place both in the upper and lower chambers of the house come June when the 9th Assembly will be inaugurated. We equally wish to appreciate the role played by Mr. President in ensuring that a rancour free leadership emerges at both houses of the National Assembly.

We also wish to thank His Excellency, the executive Governor of Plateau state, Rt Hon. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong who has also shown his support for the candidature of Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje) He has played his fatherly roll so perfectly and it is well appreciated. For various support groups that have lend their voice on the same issue, we say thank you for realising, Plateau has a jewel to present to Nigeria and the world.

Gentlemen of the Press, let me end on this note by stating that, your report on the roadmap to a new Leadership of the National Assembly has no doubt been fair and credible. Please help us in preaching the gospel of Rt Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje) as the best choice for Deputy Speakership of the Green Chambers.

This party unity is what is much needed in supporting Mr President in moving the country to the next level. It gladden our hearts that Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase (Maje) fit perfectly.
