Dapar Aid and the Unending Support of Girl-Child Education – Satmak Dapar

This piece is anchored on a statement credited to former President Barak Obama when he was addressing a group of Muslims in Cairo, Egypt sometimes in 2007. He made one of the most powerful statements in history and that gave credence to our vision of supporting the legitimate aspirations of young girls to make their dreams come true and achieve a better future. The statement reads in part… ‘I’m convinced that our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons.’

A VISION FOR DAPAR AID

It is really fascinating and just a blessing when young people translate their ideas into reality for the purpose of making a difference and bringing true change in society. Ideas rule the world, isn’t it? Dying with your ideas and potentials is not only absurd but a failure of imagination and trust. DAPAR AID is an outcome of different ideas put together by brilliant minds and true agents of change on the Plateau. As the leading figure and key brain behind the NGO, I feel immensely blessed and honoured for the opportunity to make an incredible impact on the human race. We in DAPAR AID believe that poverty is a wide-spread phenomenon. We equally believe that people are massively suffering and confronted with the many vicissitudes of life. In this context, only a few philanthropists’ worldwide and courageous governments have been able to bail those trapped in unnecessary suffering. The aggregation of efforts to save humanity from pains, hopelessness and penury is adjudged the most remarkable feat in the history of the world. It is in the light of the foregoing that this initiative (DAPAR AID) came to be. Its emergence is to compliment the efforts of world visionaries who have set out to do something significant for the human race. We are driven by passion and compassion to add value to society and improve the quality of life of those in dire need of humanitarian assistance. We are committed to building a world where the rights of all people are respected and protected and there is no limit to what we can achieve as a people. Working across rural Plateau and developing a fantastic knack to spread our vision across frontiers is the greatest thrill of my life. DAPAR AID is a dream that has come to stay. We will continue to work assiduously with those who share our vision to make the world a better place.

Girl-Child Education: Our Priority

DAPAR AID has four (4) cardinal objectives. They include scholarship, Peace-Building, Poverty Alleviation and Provision of Life-saving essentials at IDPs camps. All the objectives are dear in our hearts and we hold them in high esteem. Permit me to shed a little light on Girl-Child Education which falls under our scholarship programme. We regard everybody in contemporary society as important people. We do know that everybody has a measure of potential and can contribute to the growth and development of society. Women have proven beyond measure over the years that they have it takes to drive change, liberate nations, improve the lot of humanity and represent us in the world of leadership. We have seen countless examples and heard amazing stories of what women are doing across the world. Some of the critical examples are Zuriel Oduwole the MD/CEO of ‘Dream up, speak up, stand up’, Malala Yousafzai the Executive Director of Malala Fund, Theresa May the incumbent Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Dr. Joyce Banda the former president of Malawi, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf the 24th and current president of Liberia, Christine Lagarde the head of International Monetary Fund among others. One of the keys of true change and making a society better is giving girls education and support to reach their full potentials. They can’t be relegated to the background. Making them pass through the dangers of life does not pay. Making them second class citizens does not pay. Exposing them to the harsh realities of life in terms of domestic violence and hard labour is deeply wrong and absurd. What matters most is giving them the education and empowerment they need to succeed in life. On that basis, if a woman succeeds, a nation succeeds as well. DAPAR AID is committed to pulling resources and leveraging on opportunities to bring out the best in women. We will do it through partnership and courage because we passionately believe in the future of young committed girls who are willing to take the bull by the horns in order to stand-out. In the nearest future, our work will be result-oriented. Let’s get started together.
