Today, Saturday 10th March 2018 – Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has sharply criticised the handling of affairs during the presidential visit of 08th March 2018.
Dalung made the statements at his usual parley with ordinary citizens at the Bauchi Road Motor Park.
The Minister lamented what he called “pure deception” and “duplicity” in hiding the true state of affairs on the Plateau. He lamented the missed opportunity of appealing and engaging the president on key aspects of problems that Plateau continues to face, particularly as relates to the killings, angst and attacks which occur on a weekly basis.
He said “the president is a distinguish statesman, if our elders had come out cleanly and outlined our security challenges to him, he would come to our aid”. “But the deceptive narrative we continue to sell to him means our desperate people will continue to be killed”. “If we continue to hide our problems under the pretext that everything is fine and that peace has returned, I assure you this problem can grow into something that will consume all of us.
Speaking, he likened the cover job as being akin to a raging fire that its handlers try to hide, by covering it with a piece of garment or cloth. He said ” abinda aka yi fa, kamar wuta ne wanda aka boye shi da riga ko zanni……. nan gaba wuta zai ci zannin – sai gobara”.
Dalung regretted why the entire saga was dominated by praise singers who simply stayed on the narrative of “peace having returned to Plateau”, when in actual fact several areas outside of the Jos capital perimeter continue to face security challenges.
He lamented the dis-enfranchisement on the Plateau and passionately appeal to Plateau people to remain committed and true to the change agenda.
