Barely six weeks to the governorship primaries in Plateau State, the battle to replace Governor Jonah Jang has continued to heat up, as Dr. Haruna Dabin, who is the immediate past PDP Chairman of the State officially declares his intension to run for the governorship seat of the State, come 2015.
Dabin said, “The 7th, June, 2014, was the date I express my desire to our Governor and leader, Baba Jang, that when the time comes, I desire to contest the 2015 election into the office of Governor of Plateau State.
“That discussion was because of my respect for the leader and out of a deep personal conviction that as a Christian I have heard the word of the Lord for the season concerning my humble self, coming through several servants of God, and that I’m running with it.

“More so because i’m convinced that power belongs to God and comes from Him alone, whichever human instrument He may use; and He gives it to whomsoever He choosesand at whatever time He determines. So I was convinced that the date was appropriate for that discussion.
The former PDP Chairman who was addressing a mammoth crowd on Thursday in Kanke LGA of Plateau Central Senatorial District, where he hails from, maintained that, “Then on the 15th, September, 2014, to end the unwarranted attacks on my person on our constitution, and to espouse the basis for our love for God, love for the people, love for the State and love for our nascent democracy, I decided to resign as State Chairman, affirming that, the time has come for me to bring to a delightful conclusion this chapter of being the State Chairman of our great party.
“The conclusion of my resignation was the confirmation that God has frustrated the evil scheming of wicked and violent men, and indeed He had covered my head in the day of battle.
“Today, according to God’s leading and timing, I stand as the exhibit of the grace of God, who alone has been my God and helper, and will be my guide even to the end.
“Today, I declare to all the people of Plateau State that i’m contesting election, on the platform of our great party, the PDP, for the office of Governor of Plateau State come 2015.
Dabin stressed that, he is seeking for an opportunity to serve God and humanity.
“In making this declaration let me reiterate the over-riding philosophy of my life: That I have never and will never worship or be terrified by power, possesions, position or any other futile contraptions of men; except with a deep sense of humility, to serve God and His humanity as He gives me the grace and opportunity.
“With courage and firmness in my heart, I plead for God’s mercy upon all those people who have unsuccessfully attempted to rubbish our contributions to the PDP and to Plateau State, because the landmarks are there on the sands of time, for even the blind to see.
Dabin who was the foundation Director General of the Peoples Democratic Institute, use the opportunity to apologise and seek pardon from all those he might have offended during his duty tour.
The former Chairman whose campaign slogan is ‘Redemption Plus (R+) Network’ said the vision of his administration if given the mandate to govern the State is, “To be the Plateau in God’s agenda, inspired and sustained by Redemptive grace, strengthening the common bonds of our humanity.
While his mission is, “To enthrone the Plateau as model disciplined society; where a secured and prosporous people live.
“On the 29th, November, 2014, at the Special State Congress, we shall move from being an aspirant to be the Governorship candidate of our great party. Thereafter we shall take the centre stage towards defeating the forces that have held Plateau hostage and stunted the march to our greater freedom and manifest glory, which are religious bigotry and extremism, tribalism and nepotism, the dominance of poverty mentality, absence of a pan-African and global focus, to mention a few.
The aspirant had earlier gone to his village Kaleshi in Amper District of Kanke LGA to seek for spiritual blessings from his local Church.
The Regional Church Council Chairman of COCIN in Charge of Amper, Rev. Emmanuel Golu who prayed for the aspirant in the Church said,”If you know you have seek God’s permission before venturing into this journey, then be rest assured God is with you.
“Once you have a good relationship with your God, even your enemies will be for you. He assured.
Dabin had also visited the Chairman of Kanke LGA, Hon. John Gotau, who assured of his support, and advised the citizenry to speak with one voice.
