The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Friday affirmed the death sentence passed on Chukwuemeka Ezeugo popularly called Reverend King of the Christian Praying Assembly on 11th January 2007 by a Lagos High Court Ikeja.
Justice Fatima Akinbami while leading other judges in delivering the judgement stated that issues raised by the accused in the appeal failed to upturn the judgement of the lower court. The lower court had earlier sentenced Rev King to death by hanging after he was slammed with a six-count charge that had to do with attempted murder and murder. The counsel to the accused, Mr Olalekan Ojo however filled an appeal against the decision

Rev King was accused of murdering a church member, Ann Uzoh by setting her ablaze after accusing her of fornication. He was said to be high handed on his church members who revered him.
